The core values of the Scouting program is designed around building the character of our youth and future leaders. "Character" is who you are when no one is looking.
What is "character"?
The Scout Law says:
A Scout is... Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.
This defines "character", and the Scouting program is designed to introduce and interweave these concepts into their program from the very beginning. Building character becomes the mantra for the program and is reflected in the hierarchy of the Patrol Method combined with the exciting outdoor challenges offered as an integral part of the Boy Scout program.
Who among us does not want our kids and future leaders growing up with and adhering to these character traits? From individual goals, wether they are ranks or merit badges, to Patrol or Troop accomplishments, Scouts are challenged to achieve as both individuals and as a team while having fun.
